Dicks Market was located in this building in 1970. I know that it was a supermarket under the name "Food Bowl" (relation to the SJ McKee Rd. Food Bowl?) for at least five years in the late 1970's. I cannot confirm a Lucky ever being in the building as their was a store located at 1350 Sout...

The Modesto Albertsons opened in 1968 and the Payless didn't come until late 1969.
Coincidence that the two were in the same shopping center?

I'm just about positive that the SF Bay Area store was 2505 San Ramon Valley Blvd. in San Ramon,CA.
This store was also the first lifestyle store...

That Payless store sure is a landmark and if we loose it a piece of retail history will go along with it... (It truly does have the layout of a "discount department store of the 1960's".
