Thanks Dave. Southside Plaza and the shopping center directly across from it are very interesting to me. At the other center I saw the remains of an old colonial A&P and a huge anchor that was a flea market. What was that originally? Was there ever a second grocery in Southside (besides Giant)? ...

Food Fair, Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia - anyone recognize?

Does anyone recognize this location and what has it been replaced by? I scanned these images from old slides. The street sign says Roosevelt Blvd and I know this was somewhere near Nazareth Hospital. This is probably from the late 50's. I don't recognize this style Food Fair building without the tow...

Hi Dave. Thanks so much for sharing your photos with us. I know the work involved and it was a pleasure viewing the new ones. You solved two of my mysteries. I never knew Ukrops was in that very old store on Hull St Rd. I was in that store last year and it still had some old wall decorations that ap...

THe one in Maryland was located in a city called Clinton. Built in the mid 60's and closed by early 80's. Ours did not have the wav...

The Maingate Plaza discount store sign looks just like one we had here in Maryland. It was a SEARS catalog store. Ours was about that size too. They sold appliances, sewing machines, vacuums and hardware, carpets. etc. That would be my guess.

Hi Runchadrun. Thanks for these photos. Would it be possible to post any others from the commercial? Or do you have a way to upload it to Youtube? I'm very fascinated and appreciate you sharing them. Recently in Virginia I saw an office with a sign "Washington Mutual Home Loans". Is this a...

Don't know the chain, but this photo itself isn't extremely old. On the wall behind the man at the managers desk is a Verifone Tranz terminal used as an employee timeclock (they also make the familiar credit card verification devices). They were most common in the 90's. I agree with the person that ...
