LOL, David...........you know me so well :) That's what I was thinking (given the Field's presence, even though it was much later). What throws me off is the high part of the building in the back (an add on?). The parking situation would be relative to the time period it was built, no? Anyway..........

The Wilton Manors (5 points) has only one entrance and it is a very small store for being so new (just under 28,000). They wanted to build much bigger, but the landlord and the city said NO. Let me try one more time on those stores on Oakland Park Bl., because it may jog your memory :) As your trave...

Ah, thank you Edric. As usual, folks twist things around as times goes by. I was told that the present Publix was newly built to replace the older Publix that was there on the same lot. Also, that the original store front entrance was NOT on Dixie Highway? But, I was incorrectly told that the old Pu...

Edric, are you familiar with 5 Points in Wilton Manors? (5 points because of the intersection). At this intersection there is a Publix (it was Grand Union) and about a block or so away there is a brick restaurant (forget the name) in a strip shopping center (kind of odd L shape). The brick building ...

Great stuff Edric :) There were notable numbers of Kmart/Kmart Foods in Miami. One I remember well was on Coral Way (24 St.) and Galloway (87 Av.). The food part was run by Allied Foods. This 4 corner area and surrounding neighborhood was called Westchester. Grocery stores occuppied 3 separate corne...

Hills
Interesting..............I have been trying to research this for a long time. Hills was purchased by Food Fair around the same time it purchased Penn Fruit (before or after). I believe Hills was in parts of N.J., Long Island N.Y., Ct., Ma. and some nearby areas. At the time, Food Fair (Pantry Pride)...
