Re: Disappearing Sizzlers in your area
I am wondering if current events are going to cause Sizzler to eliminate the buffet in remaining restaurants, or to close altogether. There is a long-time Sizzler in Longview, WA where I live but has been completely closed during the Covid 19 restrictions and is not offering take-out at all ...

Re: Shopping Bag Food Stores In Southern California
I found a picture that looks to be taken sometime in the 1950’s looking southeast down Main St. in El Monte (aka Valley Mall?). There is a Shopping Bag sign in the background. Could this be the back of the store that was located on East Valley Blvd.? Below is the old photo and a current look from G ...

Re: Vons Pantry Stores
There was one in Hacienda Heights. It was on Azusa and became a Vons market. It closed in the 90s and is now an Asian market. It's across the street from PHM.

Re: Boston Store, Whittwood Mall (Whittier, CA)
They were a chain. I remember the one at Whittwood. It closed and remained vacant until they tore down the mall.
There was another one in Pomona off Garey and Arrow. It originally was a Brands department store if I remember correctly. It wasn't very big. Both locations closed in the 80s I believe.

Re: Max Foods Montebello Closing
Its odd that Office Depot moved into such a small space from such a large store. It can't be more than 1/8th the size of the original! Ross Dress for less is slated to move in once Office Depot moves out, which looks like soon. I just hope the hints of the old Albertsons (the old air vent above the ...

I can't post from my cell phone but there is a Texaco in Anaheim on the northwest corner of Magnolia Ave and La Palma Ave. Still open just drove by it last week.

Re: The Sears Essentals experiment comes to a painful conclu
Just read today, another one is biting the dust: Sears Holdings Corp. is closing another Sears Essentials store in Orange County. Sears Holdings, which also owns Kmart, said it will convert the Sears Essentials store in San Clemente back to a Kmart location next month. The Sears Essentials store ...

Re: The Sears Essentals experiment comes to a painful conclu
The Sears Essentials in El Monte originally opened in the mid 80's as a Tianguis market, a short lived mexican warehouse style market by Vons. When that closed, Kmart moved into the space, then they converted it to a Sears Essentials. Apparently WalMart is interested in the space to make a new store ...

They also have a very old and small location in Monterey Park on garvey.

Re: Older McDonald's Locations
I was at the new McD's the other day on Valley in Rosemead. Something unique that I never knew was that the original a few blocks west was originally an arch building built in the late 50's and was identical to the one in Downey. They have pictures of the store in the 70s as it was getting expanded ...

Sad to say, the old Huntington Beach store that was sitting vacant since 2001, has FINALLY been torn down (along with the neighboring Mervyns) to make way for a new Costco that will be there at Bella Terra.
