Chuck E. Cheese's and ShowBiz Pizza (Portland, Seattle)
Does anybody happen to have any pictures (both inside and out) of the following Chuck E. Cheese's (Pizza Time Theatre) and ShowBiz Pizza Place stores here in Portland, OR and in Seattle, WA between the 1980s and mid-1990s? I am most interested in seeing what these locations looked like when they wer...

Re: Is It True Fred Meyer Dropped the MY-TE-FINE Brand in 1987?
That sounds about right. We only occasionally shopped at Fred Meyer when I lived in Boise, which had only opened a full-line store a couple years prior and at that time was still operating two former Grand Central stores without food departments. I moved to WA in 1988 and remember the name was not ...

Fred Meyer Warehouse Foods Stores
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWs2iux8DBQ According to this 1987 TV spot regarding Fred Meyer Founder's Day Sales, the sales apply to all stores, except: Fred Meyer Warehouse Foods in Albany, Coos Bay, Medford, The Dalles and Roseburg; Consumers' Warehouse Foods; Fred Meyer Foods at Mill Plain, Fo...

Re: Greater WA Fred Meyer Stores with Home Improvement & Garden Centers
Longview, which opened in the mid 70s, had one. At first it was in the main building, then moved into a building in front of the store (which, oddly enough, was an old Marina Safeway) during a remodel around 1989-1990 which placed sports, home improvement, auto, and garden center into that building...

Greater WA Fred Meyer Stores with Home Improvement & Garden Centers
For all those of you living in WA outside of Vancouver -- does anyone remember which pre-1995 Fred Meyer stores in your area had Home Improvement & Garden Centers (full-on, with a lumber department) when brand new, or as an add-on during the late 1970s? I know for sure the Lynnwood store, due to...

History of Fred Meyer Home Improvement & Garden Centers
I think now I can conjure a near perfect history of Fred Meyer's Home Improvement & Garden Center concept. I can say with near certainty that the Home Improvement & Garden Center combination was first tried out in 1968 at Fred Meyer stores in both North Salem and South Salem, as well as up i...

Re: Valu Mart in the Seattle, Tacoma, Everett area
I wonder: wasn't the defunct Kent-Kangley Fred Meyer, at 12922 SE Kent-Kangley Road, one of the seven ex-Valu-Marts in this region (Sea-Tac)? Fred Meyer sold this store to Albertson's in 2001, and is currently a 24 Hour Fitness store. Also, has anyone heard of the "Crossroads" Freddy's in ...

Fred Meyer Auto Centers
Does anyone remember when Fred Meyer once had auto centers where not only could you purchase certain parts like tires for your car or truck, but at certain locations you could also have your vehicle be serviced outright? Some were in separate buildings (many of which became Home Improvement & Ga...

Re: Old Fred Meyer Stores w/ Separate HI&GCs
The three Salem-area stores all had separate HI/GC to my memory, circa 1991. 2855 Broadway St NE / Keizer's was to the north edge of the parcel, where Dollar Tree is now. 3740 Market St NE / Lancaster, again, to my blurry memory, was also on the N side, but I can't recall if it's the NW or NE corne...

Re: Old Fred Meyer Stores w/ Separate HI&GCs
There was also a Fred Meyer in Seattle that had a separate HI&GC. It was the one on Lake City Way. This store was originally a Marketime Drug outlet. While I don't know that origin of the Marketime chain by the 60's they were like the older Fred Meyer store but without food. However the Lake Ci...

Re: Old Fred Meyer Stores w/ Separate HI&GCs
I dug up some more information on these stores through the help of The Historical Oregonian 1861-1987, and here's the best info I could come up with: The Tigard Home Improvement and Garden Centers opened simultaneously in 1971 in a separate building; this location was deemed to be the first in the P...

Is It True Fred Meyer Dropped the MY-TE-FINE Brand in 1987?
Is it true that Fred Meyer had dropped the "MY-TE-FINE" brand in 1987, when their main logo also changed? I want to think that last time they used the marque prominently, the graphic I'm referring to (often in two-tone blue; I remember their ice cream used other two-tone color schemes, suc...

Re: Safeway Super Stores and Marketplaces (1977-1994)
Going a bit OT, weren't there any new post-1977 Safeways in the Portland/Vancouver region that were less than 35,000 sq. ft.?

Re: Safeway in Newberg and McMinnville
In that video, I also spotted a Chevron station branded as a Standard station. Now that makes three Standard branded Chevron stations that I know of that existed in Oregon. The others were located on Mcloughlin Blvd, and a current one in Beaverton just off of highway 217 in front of a Kohl's store....

Re: Safeway Super Stores and Marketplaces (1977-1994)
So did the Food Barn stores actually operate under that banner, or were they still under the Safeway banner? The Hazel Dell store is still open today as a regular Safeway and seems to be doing just fine. They did operate under the Food Barn banner. I think one of the divisions that was closed in th...
