Re: Anyone Old Enough, To Remember Returning Glass Bottles>?

I also remember returning empty glass pop bottles. My dad was the Assistant Manager of the Alpha Beta Market in downtown Orange, California and in those days the cashiers weren't careful about giving bottle refunds for empty pop bottles that the store didn't even sell the product of. After awhile th...

Re: Michael's Market Orange CA

Re: Michael's Market Orange CA

I also remember that Michael's Markets at one time in an effort to become larger bought a small grocery store chain called Smith's Markets (this Smith's had nothing to do with the Smith's Food King or any other close named grocery store chains. I can remember driving on the highway to Corona and jus...

Re: Michael's Market Orange CA

I was wondering if anyone remembers Michael's Markets which started with their first store in Orange, Calif. on Tustin Ave. This small grocery chain was started by a man named Joe Goodnight who used to work for Alpha Beta Markets in Calif. before starting his own grocery store business. He named his...

Greater All American Markets

I only special thing that I remember about the Greater All American Markets was that every one of their stores had a very large American Flag that they always had flying on a flag pole in front of their stores.

Albertsons Store being remodeled by Stater Brothers

When Albertsons entered the Southern Claifornia area they did so by buying the Greater All American Markets in 1964. At that time I think they had the offices of the Greater All American Markets located in one of their stores on Firestone Blvd. in Downey. I don't know if it is the same address as th...

sage stores

I'm not at all familiar with the street name locations of the Sage Stores but I was wondering if they ever had a store located near the old Santa Fe Railroad Depot in San Bernardino. I recall there being a grocery store just a block or two from the depot but I'm not sure if the store was a Sage Stor...

Sage Grocery Stores

Does anyone remember a grocery chain called Sage Grocery Stores.
If I remember correctly they had stores in either the Riverside, California
or San Bernadino, California areas. They may have been bought out by Stater Brothers many years ago.

Safeway Drugstores in Oklahoma

I can remember when I moved to Oklahoma that Safeway converted a few of their smaller Safeway Stores to a drugstore format called "Drugs For Less". Frankly that name in itself was a very poor choice for a drugstore name. These drugstores were usually smaller and older low volume Safeway Gr...

Fazio's Store Location

Sometime in the mid 1970's to the time when Albertsons bought the Fazio's grocery stores I worked at a small Market Basket Store in Anaheim, California and the store was just a few blocks north of the intersection of Lincoln and State College Blvd. Right across the street from the Market Basket and ...

Does anyone know the address of the El Rancho Store that was located in Laguna Hills? Was the store located in the Leisure World Retirement Community? Thriftimart in Anaheim

The only Thriftimart that I remember in Anaheim before I moved from Calif. in 1979 was located at the intersection of Lincoln and State College Blvd. Is this the same location as a previous post said was across from the bus station in Anaheim? This shopping center also had a Sav-on Drugstore in it a...

Picture of the Alpha Beta Market in Santa Ana

The picture posted of the old Alpha Beta Market in Santa was at that time designated Alpha Beta Market #4 and it was located at the corner of North Main Street and Washington Street and it closed in 1964. The store was torn down so that a Savings and Loan could be built on the site. This particular ...
