Robinson's in AZ was originally Goldwaters...Since the Goldwater name is used by a family member on a line of salsas and condiments, I assume they own the rights to that name.

An oddity...International DQ (the master franchisor) is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, who also has major investments in Coca Cola...yet many DQ franchises serve Pepsi.

Re: Bashas'
Unfortunately, Bashas' wasn't able to get favorable terms on a lease renewal at that site and now it's a Sprouts (along with a number of other former ABCO stores in the Phoenix area). \ The Sprouts market just recently opened at that site. So we have a grocery store on its 4th owner! (Lucky to ABCO ...

Phoenix also had a king size Goodyear diamond sign with a time/temp sign at the corner of I-17 and the Grand Ave overpass. Also the tire stores sold bikes and toys during the holidays, and of course ...

Re: The Very First Texaco "System 2000" Stations (1981-1983)
In the 90s Texaco and Shell combined their retail/refining operations in the US into a partnership (majority owned by Shell)..in some markets Texaco was predominant, Shell in others. The partnership ended when Chevron bought out Texaco. The Texaco share of the partnership was sold to Shell around ...

Re: old store brands
The "generics" era was the time of double-digit inflation, they were supposedly even cheaper than the store brand and were basically slightly lower in quality than the store brand. There was even a generic "beer" which was made by the infamous Falstaff brewery

Yes, it opened as a Lucky. It became an ABCO when they bought the AZ Lucky stores in the late 80s. When ABCO went under (along with its then-owner Fleming) in the early 00s Bashas' bought the store
