Re: Former Kroger, Bay City, MI
That store looks like the store in Dearborn Michigan (complete with the rounded roof) that became a marshalls a few years ago, my guess is it was originally a mid to late 1960's store.

Re: Strange Rite Aid Remodel
I would have to say that the Aisle, wall and other hanging signage with a few exceptions looks like their modern package, as signs identical to these were installed in the brand-new Rite-Aid at the intersection of Platt and Packard Roads in Ann Arbor, MI (Open 5-2008). The Photo sign and the sign wi...

A quick Google search shows that they operated out of Ohio and had a location in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is an autoparts website by the name of Trimbrite that lists them as an authorized retailer.

I wonder if the sign company didn't error in the lettering, five hours doesn't seem like much of an open period.

Value City Department Stores
AP- This is from Oct. 28th, 2008, I just noticed this and I wasn't really sure where to put it: Discount retailer Value City Department Stores and its subsidiaries have filed for bankruptcy protection and plan to close their stores. Bankruptcy papers filed in New York say the Columbus, Ohio-based co...

Re: Long John Silver's freestanding stores
I remember one being in Ypsilanti MI, but like so much in that state it closed about ten years ago. It is a locally owned Thai Restaurant now. On the opposite side of town they built a KFC/Long John Silvers in 2005.

The only Mervyn's I knew of in my area (Ann Arbor, MI) closed about the time they went bankrupt and is supposed to open as a Whole Foods soon. It was a one-story location at the west end of a strip-mall.

Re: Former Boston Market locations in your area
The Boston Market on Washtenaw Avenue In Ann Arbor MI just closed and is being converted over to a McDonalds. Something to do with the divestment of Boston Market by McDonalds last year. This location dates from the late 80's or early 90's.

Re: Kroger Superstores
What might make this odd is that it was opened in the superstore era (3-1-73) although I think somebody else mentioned it might have been planned pre-superstore.
