Dahlia or Dahlia Square shopping center in Denver

Does anyone have information or photos of this shopping center? Research shows it was the first or one of the first African American owned shopping centers. It was in the Park Hill area of Denver....which was in the early 1970's and maybe now a predominately black area of town. In the early 1970's m...

Re: Globe Shopping City

Just found this.....there was never a store in Oklahoma City called Globe.....I remember the one in Lubbock.

Unless it was under another name like Shoppers World or Founders Fair....both similar types of stores to Globe.

Re: Kroger superstore decor in Toni Basil's "Shoppin' From A to Z" video

Just watched this....towards the end when she names grocery item names for each letter of the alphabet--it shows a meat department label...I think this is the same one that Kroger used to use on the fresh cut meat. The grocery bags had red printing on them...not seen a Kroger bag with red lettering ...

Re: Stores in Springfield, Missouri?

Consumers was a dominant local chain until the early to mid 90's I think. Their logo was in cursive writing. They had several stores around Springfield...one of them is now the blood bank on Glenstone. Another one maybe is now Mardel or Hobby Lobby by the mall. I know they also had stores in smaller...

It is called Kings Market---a Mexican store.

Re: Skaggs-Albertsons

There were stand alone Skaggs Drug Centers and Skaggs Albertsons in Tulsa for a while. After Skaggs Albertsons opened in 1974 or 1975, there were two Skaggs Drug stores open for a few years....one of them was an old downtown store...and another in a shopping center. The downtown store closed first.....

Re: Skaggs-Albertsons

I worked for Skaggs Albertsons in Oklahoma City from 1974 until 1982. Also worked in a couple of Tulsa stores. The stores in this area were 55,000 sq ft. There were orginally 4 stores built in OKC...all in 1974-1975. I agree...they were wonderful stores...more selection and variety than anything we ...

Any stores wrap your meat in brown paper at the checkout?

I worked for Skaggs Albertsons in the 1970's and early 1980's...thru the early name changes...to Skaggs, Skaggs Supercenter, and into Skaggs Alpha Beta. We used to have rolls of brown paper at each checkstand to wrap fresh items from the meat department in before bagging them....some customers loved...

Re: Kroger closing in Hannibal and Louisiana, MO

Anyone know anything about the Kroger in Warrenton, MO? Just looked at the photo on Google....Looks like it's a 1950's or 1960's store with the original KROGER white letters on the front of the building...and the original Kroger oval sign....not in the cube. Would like to make the trip up there some...

Hinky Dinky and their leased grocery departments

Just read an interesing article about the history of this Nebraska chain. The article said that they had quite a large division that had leased food departments in discount stores of the 60's and 70's...one of the main chains mentioned was The Treasury and Treasure Island...something like locations ...

Re: Mini-Marina - Hearne, TX

There is a "small Marina" Safeway still operating as a Homeland ...in Perry, OK that looks very similar to the above mentioned one in Okemah OK. I'm trying to find a picture...there was a Safeway in North Tulsa in a shopping center with a "kind of Marina" look...It had the "...
